Frequently Asked Questions
More questions coming soon. If you don't see your question answered, then get in touch!
What does the workshop consist of?
Each workshop will consist of a main demonstration by James to create your bespoke glass gift and then a mini demonstration to show you how to make your chosen glass piece. You’ll then have a go at glassblowing under the guidance of James.
Each experience is tailored to you and if you’d like to spend your time watching more glassblowing, you’ll leave with more unique and complex gifts without having to raise a finger!
Where is the studio located?
The studio is a 3-minute drive or 20-minute walk along country roads from the main village of Hawkshead. The exact location will be provided a week ahead of the workshop, once your booking has been made. There is free parking available on site.
How accessible is the studio / experience?
The studio is in an outbuilding with a small step up. Toilet facilities are limited currently as we upgrade them so we advise you to use the ones in the village if possible.
We can accommodate based on your requirements - some of the experience can be conducted sitting down (e.g. demonstrations). Let us know how best we can support you by getting in touch.
How do I book a date?
At the moment we don't have an official booking system. If you have a specific date in mind, please contact us:
Email: handmadeinhawkshead@gmail.com Phone: 015394 55506.
You can also purchase this as a gift voucher and choose dates later. To avoid disappointment, please book with us as soon as possible as we can't guarantee availability!
Can I come along to watch a glassblowing workshop if I’m not participating?
Due to the hands-on nature of the experience and the limited space in our workshop, we’re only able to accommodate those with a booking. If you'd like to be involved, we recommend booking a ticket for yourself as well—we’d love to have you join in!
What age is this suitable for?
Due to safety considerations our glassblowing experiences are only suitable for ages 11 and up. Parental consent and supervision is required for those under 18.
How do I receive the gift voucher?
Once you've made your purchase, we'll email your printable gift voucher within 3 working days - if you require it sooner, do let us know and we'll try our best to get it to you ASAP.
Do I receive my glass gifts at the experience?
Your glass pieces will need time to cool down slowly (anneal) in the kiln so that they don't crack. We will send your pieces by post within 5 working days of the experience. Let us know if you need to make other arrangements.

Available as a gift voucher
