Glassblowing Experience - Private 1:1 Tuition

This private 1:1 workshop is perfect for beginners enthusiastic about glassblowing or for those with some experience looking to refine their skills or just get a bit more time behind the torch. 

In this experience, you'll work alongside professional local glassblower James Stewardson. James has over 10 years experience with glassblowing and is able to make a range of glass art -  from decorative sculptures and jewellery to marbles and functional glassware! 

Under the guidance of James, you will use a torch (also referred to as a "lamp") to create glass pieces based on what interests you. The beauty of lampworking (compared to furnace work) means that you can get close to the glass and flame, allowing you to really immerse yourself in the magic of glassblowing.

• At least 1 bespoke handmade glass piece made by James for you. 

This workshop is based at a studio a 3-minute drive from the village of Hawkshead.

Should I book a 2-hour or 4-hour experience? The 2-hour experience gives participants a really good insight into the basics of lampworking, letting them see how the process works and giving them the chance to have a go at the torch. The 4-hour experience is much more immersive - participants will get to see James demonstrate more complex glass pieces and they'll also get more time behind the torch. Participants will also receive and make more glass art in this experience. Great for those that get really lost in any craft that put their attention on!
